Clara Nikkel Named National Merit Finalist
BATESVILLE, AR: We are thrilled to announce that Clara Nikkel, a graduating senior in the class of 2024 at Batesville High School Charter (BHHSC), has been selected as a National Merit Finalist. Out of an initial pool of 15,000 finalists, Clara is among the 7,140 distinguished students recognized nationwide as Merit Scholars.
The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. Students enter the program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) and by meeting other program requirements.
Clara's exceptional performance, dedication to academic excellence, and exemplary leadership skills have set her apart in this incredibly competitive and prestigious program. Her achievement as a National Merit Finalist is a testament to her hard work, intelligence, and commitment to her education.
Nikkel scored an impressive 1500, exceeding the National average of 920 and placing her in the top 10% for scoring that high on her PSAT/NMSQT proving why she earned a slot in the top 7K and shining a positive light on the quality of education she received during her time at Pioneer Nation. BHSC Principal Kevin Bledsoe said, “We are incredibly proud of Clara and her outstanding accomplishment. The education Clara received at BHSC undoubtedly played a pivotal role in preparing her for this opportunity. It is a tremendous honor to have one of our students recognized as a National Merit Finalist. Clara is incredibly bright and our teachers and education leaders couldn’t be more proud of her accomplishments.”
