Favorite Teacher, Coach, or Mentor? I like all of them!
How have we put your Student First? When the Mount Pleasant Elementary campus closed at the end of the 2016 school year, we had to make a decision about where Jasper would continue his education. Although we live near Sidney, which is in the Melbourne School District, having Jasper on a school campus so far away from our jobs in Batesville and (then) Newport was not practical for us. After talking with other parents and teacher friends who were familiar with Jasper and the challenges that he was having at the time, we settled on the Sulphur Rock Sports and STEAM Magnet campus. Right away, I could tell that we had made the best choice. Melissa Baxter and Amber Neal were absolute angels those first two years in making sure all of Jasper‘s educational needs were being met at school by recognizing signs and recommending screenings for speech therapy and dyslexia. The entire SPED team went above and beyond with their services and interventions. Today, Jasper is in 7th grade. He is an active athlete and enjoys school. I love that the teachers support his needs in the classroom and are accessible and responsive anytime I reach out. We are proud to be a Pioneer family!
