Bill of Rights Contest Winner
During a virtual ceremony on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, a federal judge announced that Xuanying Li, a student at Batesville Junior High School Charter, won third place in the third annual Bill of Rights Day art contest.
Xuanying, an eighth grader, is a student in Mrs. Katie Covington’s Art class. She will receive a check for two hundred dollars in recognition of her work. “Students in grades 5-12 from Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin were invited to create an artwork that showcased the importance of the Bill of Rights,” explained Covington. "Xuanying is a really strong artist, and that is supported by the fact that she placed so well in this highly competitive contest. I am really proud of her accomplishment!"
In addition, Mrs. Covington was drawn as a teacher raffle winner during the ceremony and received a two hundred dollar Amazon gift card, a prize which she will use to purchase additional art supplies for her classroom.
