VOTE: SEPT. 14th

Dear Pioneer Nation,

Batesville and Our Students Need More Classrooms & School Safety Features.

Batesville faces a crisis. Our schools are at capacity with more students coming and are badly in need of repair and renovation; some buildings even need to be replaced. These facilities will help “Secure Our Future” for our youth and Batesville School District. In addition, we need to equip our schools and our students with the safety and security that meets today’s standards. The Special Election of Sept. 14, 2021 ballot offers our community an opportunity to meet these needs.

If we don’t address the needs now the quality of education for our children and future generations will decline, and Batesville’s tradition of excellence in education will be threatened and our community’s educational reputation and economic hub may be jeopardized as well.

Over 40 patrons worked this last year as a facility stakeholders group with assistance for architectural and engineering experts in the field of school facility planning and cost analysis. Extensive staff and community input was gathered from thousands of citizens through town meetings and surveys to create this plan to improve our schools. Voters are being asked to approve one question on the Sept. 14th Special Election Ballot:

A general obligation construction bond for 30 years to provide district-wide addition of classrooms and safety features; and for constructing, refurbishing, remodeling and equipping school facilities.

Classrooms and safety are key to Batesville’s School District’s future! Before the special election there will be weekly meetings, including Town Meetings, throughout Batesville and surrounding communities, and our school website providing opportunities to get information about the bond issue. In addition, 6 school tours will be offered, and informational brochures will be distributed in multiple places in the district. Please review the information provided carefully so that you can make an informed vote on Sept. 14th
