Batesville Kid Care and the Summer To Always Remember (STAR) are school-age care programs and are owned and operated by the Batesville School District.

The Batesville School District has been designated as a School of the 21st Century through the Yale University Bush Center for Child Development.  The center offers quality supervised activities and a stimulating environment for school age children—kindergarten-6th grade.  The programs provide a variety of educational, recreational, and developmental activities, both active and passive.  A concerned and caring staff will help the children become self-directed and self-disciplined individuals.  Each child will be valued as a unique person capable of worth, ideas, and actions.

Before-School Program: — The Before School Program is available for children of parents who have to be at work before 7:30 a.m. (time that school opens).  The program opens at 6:00 a.m. daily, and at 7:30 the children are dismissed to catch their bus to their respective schools or to the Kindergarten Center.  The weekly fee for the Before-School Program is $15 for the first child and $10 for each additional child.

After-School Program: — Batesville Kid Care is for school age children (k-6th grade) in the Batesville School System.  The program provides a safe, fun environment for children whose parents are not available to pick them up at the end of the school day.

Summer Program: — The STAR Program is open from 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  The summer’s activities include swimming, bowling, miniature golf, and gymnastics activities.  There are many activities to choose from both inside and outside.  The registration fee is $30.00 and the weekly fee is $65.00 for the first child and $55.00 for each additional child.

Location: — The programs are located at the Kindergarten Center at 1900 Lyon Street.

Time of Operation: — The program operates from school dismissal until 5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday during the school year.  The center is open when school is not in session due to early dismissal, inclement weather (if possible), staff development days, or holiday vacations.  The center is closed on Labor Day, the Wednesday before and the Friday after Thanksgiving Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, Good Friday (if school is dismissed), Independence Day, and Memorial Day.

Cost: — To guarantee a place for your child, a non-refundable registration fee of $20 per child is required.  The regular weekly fee for the program is $30 for the first child and 425 for each additional child.  On days that the program is open all day, an additional fee will be charged.
