| Gymnastics
– Three classes of instruction are taught by Coach Chas O’Connor
from Stars and Stripes.
Feelin’ Good Mileage Club – Students are given the opportunity to walk/run/jog around the perimeter of the playground during recess time to earn toe tokens. German – Nadine Norris, a native of Germany, teaches this beginning German class. She engages the students in activities involving the German language and culture. Yoga for Kids – Angela Davis leads this activity. International Art – Jeanette Emerson, Eagle Mountain art teacher, leads this class. Our older students try various medium used in other countries. Jump Rope Team – Susan Parker sponsors this group of students. They have been asked in the past to perform at half-time of basketball games, community events, and our annual showcase. Students learn basic, intermediate, and advanced individual and partner jump rope skills. World Detective – Carol Williams, second grade teacher, leads our third through fifth grade students in an exciting interactive adventure to other lands. Chess Club – Michael Beary, G.T. instructor, sponsors this club. This group of students has represented Eagle Mountain in local and district-wide tournaments. Biking Adventure – Angie Insell, physical education teacher, sponsors this bicycle safety class. Students ride the Pioneer bicycles around a pre-determined course to exhibit safe biking practices. Little Dribblers – Susan Parker directs both groups of basketball players. The first and second graders practice ball-handling and dribbling skills for use in half-time performances. The third, fourth, and fifth grade students practice basketball skills in preparation for scrimmages. Angie Insell assists Ms. Parker with the older group. Extreme Team – Stephen Robertson directs these students in the pursuit of ultimate fitness. The group is similar to ROTC . Magnet Emphasis Drama – This is a student-led activity created by a group of fifth graders. They have developed an original drama with an international setting. International Dance – Ms. Creque, instructional aide, teaches traditional Hawaiian and Mexican dances. Healthy Cooking Class – Carol Heringer teaches the art of preparing healthy meals at a reasonable cost. Students also learn the nutritional value of these foods. M.A.S.H. - Susie Cummins, first grade teacher, and Paul Barrett, fourth grade teacher, co-teach this in-depth study of the human body. Students interested in pursuing medical-related careers are encouraged to sign-up for this class. Tae Kwon Do – This martial art
is taught by a certified instructor. All levels of experience are welcome
in this class. |
